Preparation for the NDTI Program

*Beginning in Spring term of 2016this program is no longer accepting new students. Students who are currentlydeclared in these programs should contact program director Bruce Emerson todevelop an academic plan.

Students entering the field of Non Destructive Testing and Inspection need to be prepared to learn many advanced techniques using mathematics, computers, and science skills. Students also need to be able to communicate results of their testing in clear written reports. Finally, technicians in this field must have excellent visual acuity

Vision Examinations

Near Distance Vision Requirements:

Natural or corrected near distance acuity in at least one eye capable of reading the Jaeger #1 Test Chart or equivalent at a distance of not less than 30 cm.

Color Vision Requirements:

Ability to differentiate among colors used in NDTI method(s). There are standardized color-blindness tests that can be administered to determine acuity.

Preparatory and Pre-Requisite Coursework

To help students be successful in their study of NDTI, we have established preparatory and pre-requisite courses for the program. If you are interested in participating in the NDTI program, please talk with your academic advisor about taking the courses shown below.

If you are a high school student interested in our program, passing the AP testing in physics, math or writing can help you meet our program requirements more quickly.
