DR Test
Disaster Recovery
The Information Technology Services (ITS) department values redundancy and resiliency as part of its ongoing mission to support the capability for COCC to provide quality, reliable technology for our students, faculty and staff. In an effort to both provide proof of concept for the Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities of the technology implemented at our primary Data Center (DC), and to learn more about our potential recovery time, Chief Information Officer Dan Cecchini charged the ITS department with performing a DR test of the core Enterprise Resource and Planning (ERP) solution, to be performed during the winter of 2014. This test was successfull and highly educational for all involved. Dan further charged the ITS department with a second test, winter 2015. Adding upon the previous success of the winter 2014 test, the 2015 test recovered the ERP system, plus several Windows servers as part of COCC's virtual server environment, and was able to successfully test and print the Payroll Service's department's ability to restart and recovery payroll. There is no winter 2016 DR test scheduled, instead the ITS department is using information learned from the two previous tests to build an offsite DR center in COCC's Redmond Tech MDF.
