Career and Educational Possibilities in Public Health
A wide variety of options are available for students pursuing a career in public health. At COCC, students interested in immediate employment can complete the Community Health Worker or Peer Support Specialist training, which prepares them for front-line, entry-level work in public health. Students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree can complete their Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree. The AAOT provides a strong foundational understanding of public health while aligning general education courses with the intended transfer institution. Whatever path is preferred, students work closely with their advisor to develop an academic plan to help meet career goals.
