On-campus simulated pharmacy builds students’ confidence
COCC’s Pharmacy Technician program stands out for its innovative training, which incorporates a state-of-the-art simulated pharmacy classroom. Located within COCC’s Health Careers Center on the Bend campus, the space replicates a retail pharmacy setting, providing students with industry-standard tools, technology, and a comprehensive inventory.
The simulated pharmacy features an IV room, mirroring the sterile environments found in hospitals. Here, students gain valuable experience in compounding intravenous medications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict protocols. The hands-on experience prepares students for the challenges they will face in a professional pharmacy. By providing access to such a specialized facility, COCC’s program instills a level of competence and confidence among its students that is highly sought in the pharmacy field, empowering future pharmacy technicians to make a significant impact in the health care field.
