Art and Design

Why study Art and Design?

Explore a diverse range of creative media with the Art and Design program at COCC, where a vibrant artistic culture led by accomplished faculty-artists fosters new skills and inspiration.

With graphic design, illustration, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, design, metals, and photography among the COCC Art and Design program’s many emphases, the learning opportunities are extensive. These focuses are offered alongside a robust set of art history courses which introduce students to a range of art objects and concepts from different time periods and cultures around the world.

"I was always impressed by the level of generosity, interest, and care that my teachers brought to their classes"

Samuel Ezra Fisch, Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree recipient

On-campus visiting artist exhibitions, juried exhibitions of student work, museum field trips, and connections with community arts organizations all contribute to a comprehensive educational experience, where aspiring artists and emerging cultural voices find a positive environment for expression and discovery.
