Title IX
Overview
Central Oregon Community College’s goal is to provide an atmosphere of mutual support and respect. We also foster an awareness, acceptance and encouragement of different cultures, values and viewpoints. With this, COCC aims to provide at atmosphere free from any form of discrimination.
Title IX, in particular, is a federal law that prohibits all forms of gender discrimination on the basis of gender stereotypes, characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity. This includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic or dating violence and stalking, as well as support for students who are pregnant or experiencing pregnancy-related conditions (pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, lactation or recovery from these conditions).
Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating or Domestic Violence or Stalking
First and foremost, if you witness or experience any form of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating or domestic violence or stalking, know that COCC is here to help. We encourage anyone experiencing or witnessing these challenges to complete an incident report, noting that all information is confidential. Someone from COCC’s Title IX office will reach out to you to share resources for support and talk about investigation options, confidentiality, and potential next steps. Note that the College will not take any action unless the person subjected to the behaviors wants us to do so.
