Multiplying Fractions
Multiplying fractions is often thought to be the easiest fraction computation, but understanding why we do what we do to multiply fractions is not as simple. This worksheet will walk you through understanding how multiplication of fractions is just an extension of whole number multiplication and why the rule we follow makes sense.
Knowing how to do something and becoming proficient at it are two different things. The way you will get better at fraction computation is to practice. The Khan Academy has a website that generates practice problems that will give you instant feedback. You should work through problems at both links until you are confident that you have mastered multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers.
Math Games - https://www.mathgames.com/fractions - This site also has many links to practice pages with online (immediate feedback) practice problems. (The site was designed with elementary students as their primary audience, so try not be put off by its cute factor and grade level designations.)
Here are some videos that have example problems being worked out.
