Diagnostic Imaging

Distance Education program in partnership with Linn-Benton Community College

Central Oregon Community College (COCC) has partnered with Linn Benton Community College (LBCC) to bring the Diagnostic Imaging Associate of Applied Science program to our region via distance education. Students wishing to study this occupation may take prerequisite courses at COCC, apply for the distance program, and receive the degree via distance delivery while remaining in Central Oregon.

Linn-Benton distance education students receive dynamic instruction using a combination of clinical instruction, online courses within the college learning management system, and the asynchronous virtual classroom environment to help them achieve their learning goals while remaining in their local community. Distance Education designated students should expect to make a minimum of seven to nine trips to the LBCC Healthcare Occupations Center in Lebanon, Oregon during the course of the program.

Diagnostic Imaging

What does a Radiologic Technologist do?

Radiologic technologists create images of patients’ bodies using medical equipment. This helps doctors diagnose and treat diseases and injuries. Radiologic technologists, or x-ray techs, perform diagnostic imaging examinations in both clinic and hospital settings. Certification in general radiography opens the door to pathways towards specialty imaging modalities like CT, MRI, mammography, and more. Interpersonal communication is an important skill in the field of imaging. If you like working with people, are adaptable to an ever-changing environment and enjoy technology, this is the field for you!
