Health Information Management

Why study Health Information Management?

Learn how to manage and process health information — and establish the very core of a patient’s care — through COCC's Health Information Management (HIM) program.

Through Online Learning, hands-on professional experience, and specialized certificate options, the HIM program teaches data management, health care privacy, medical coding, revenue cycle, and more. Graduates are prepared for high-wage, high-demand jobs that require organization, detail, and a sense of stewardship.

"The program is designed to teach both theoretical knowledge and practical skills — both of which are necessary in this field."

Amy Falkenrath, Health Information Management graduate

Before graduating, Health Information Management students gain real-world experience during their second-year professional practice experience.

Through this 40-hour Professional Practice, students are matched with local organizations where they develop valuable on-the-job skills.
