Afrocentric College Prep
The Afrocentric College Preparatory program(s) focuses on multiple aspects of education committed to evaluating voices to create a campus culture that is not only tolerant but creates an environment that is inviting and develops a system of belonging for our students interested in learning about the African Diaspora.
To achieve our goals, students begin their journey of having critical consciousness by providing them with skills to adopt an internal gaze to build self-awareness in navigating our greater community, use their creativity such as music and spoken word to enhance public sharing, develop educational and social justice projects that benefit the community, and gives them a platform to express their wisdom and insights to create agency.
OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE:
L.E.A.D: Legacy Education for Afrocentric Development continues to enhance the needs of students in our community. The primary goal of L.E.A.D is to encourage Black and Afrocentric youth to graduate from high school and pursue a well-rounded education and apprenticeships, which contributes to becoming productive members of our community and behind. The program will offer a diverse curriculum that integrates leadership and culturally relevant themes for students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Learning outcomes include:
- Providing professional development and support for all high school students who engage in the program.
- Facilitate conversations for students to discuss future planning while developing a sense of agency.
- Understanding how to adopt technologies that give them access to support services and community resources.
UBUNTU or "HUMANITY" commonly translated as "I am because we are", is our education summer symposium program that introduces self-identified Black, African-American, Afro-latino, etc and its allies to the college experience while understanding the academic rigor, cultural impact, and working with academic and community partners. The goals of the symposium are to emphasize building a community of academic and community support, based on cultural activities that prepare them for the transition from high school into college and/or life.

The 2024 Summer Symposium will be held on June 24th - 27th and more information on how to register will be coming soon.
