Early Child Care Business Accelerator Program for Home Based Providers

Winter/Spring 2025 English Cohort: January through April

Spring/Summer 2025 English Cohort: April through August

Fall 2025 English Cohort: September through December

The ECC Business Accelerator Program for Home-Based Registered Family Providers is a 9-session program that focuses on providing the skills and knowledge for persons who intend to become RF or CF providers, or for persons who currently are home-based child care providers licensed within the past 2 years. Prerequisites must be met before course registration. Upon successful completion of the ECC Business Accelerator Course and meeting program requirements, graduates are eligible to receive a $5,000 grant. 


What is the ECC Business Accelerator Program for

Home Based Providers?

The Business Accelerator course is offered at no charge to participants and is running 4 times a year through 2025. The program has 7 in-person weekly evening classroom sessions from 6-9 p.m. (21 hours total), as well as 5 direct business advising sessions (minimum of 5 hours). Dinner is provided. Participants should also expect to spend 30-40 hours outside the classroom (4-6 hours per week) to get their home-based child care business started. Persons are expected to attend all classes and advising sessions to be eligible for college credit and the $5,000 start-up grant.

The course includes, but is not limited to, the below concepts:

  • Understanding how to become state licensed
  • Starting a Business 101
  • Understanding the finances of running a business
  • Policy and Procedure Development
  • Continuous Quality Improvement

Program Benefits for Participants

Program Participants are eligible for a $5,000 grant upon meeting program deliverables:

  • Finish the free, 3-month course and course deliverables
  • Become Licensed and Operational as a Registered or Certified Child Care Provider in Central Oregon
  • Offer Full-time care
  • Complete a site visit with NeighborImpact Child Care Resources

Participants will also receive Oregon Registry Online (ORO) credit – 21 hours in Program Management, ongoing support through NeighborImpact, entrance into the Oregon Child Care Alliance, and a free childcare management software subscription for 2 years.

Are you Program Eligible?

Prior to starting the program, persons need to make sure they can operate a child care business out of their home. Child Care Resources can work with persons to complete items needed before being able to participate in the program:

  • Initiate the Central Background Registry
  • Submit Water Lead Testing for your residence
  • Gain landlord or HOA approval for program site
  • Complete Introduction to Registered Family Child Care Classes One & Two
