Faculty FAQ / Student Art Showcase
If you are an instructor and you have a question about Student Art Showcase, please contact jlpark@cocc.edu. All questions will be compiled here. Thank you!
What art can be submitted for the showcase?
Students should only be submitting work that they did in their courses. With that said, students can speak with instructor(s) if they want to create work in their class that is focused on trying to get into the show.
Which students have been added to the Showcase course?
All students from all courses with an ART prefix from Fall and Winter quarter have been added to the course. Because the requirement to submit work is based on coursework, courses where students don't produce artwork haven't been included.
Can we designate wall space for a specific class?
No, we can't designate wall space ahead of time. Part of the adjudication process is for students to submit their own artwork and be evaluated individually as there's no guarantee that a student's art work will make it into the showcase. The artwork will be hung according to what is chosen for the show.
Can Continuing Education students be part of the Student Showcase?
The Student Showcase is only for students enrolled in an Art Department class, program, or certificate. Continuing Education is separate and outside of the matriculated art and certificate programs. Continuing Education students are welcome to apply to the public community art calls throughout the year.
Who are the judges for the art showcase?
The Art Club students will be choosing who the judges are for the art show. We will likely make an announcement of who is chosen shortly before the awards ceremony in June.
